I drank some beer before going to bed tonight, and I suddenly had a lot of ideas, so I just updated something and wanted to talk about trading.
I have been engaged in professional speculation for 9 years, and it is the most essential 9 years of my life. I have devoted myself to professional speculation, and it is foreseeable that I will continue to work in this industry in the future. It is estimated that it is impossible to work part-time in this life. Or do other professions, I am really super expert in this line of work.
Is it good to do business?
I think there are many benefits:
First of all, this industry does not require high IQ. In my opinion, as long as the IQ reaches the average level, or even a little lower than the average level, you can already do this industry.
IQ is really desperate. Only those who have worked hard know that it is a gap that can never be crossed. I studied very hard in high school, but I knew that no matter how hard I tried, no matter how much I paid, I would never be able to get into a top school like Tsinghua and Peking University.
And among my classmates who were admitted to such a top prestigious school, there is no doubt that they all have super high IQs. Compared with me, they are simply crushed, and they are not on the same level at all. And I know this gap, even if I struggle for a lifetime, it is impossible to catch up with them.
In fact, I understand very well why Ali, Tencent, and Huawei, when recruiting employees, only need graduates from famous schools like Qingbei and Fudan?
The reason is that you don't have to doubt their IQ at all, the country has already done the cruelest selection for you.
In this society, everyone has been brutally competing with their peers. If I compete for IQ, it is absolutely impossible for me to compete with these top students.
Fortunately, trading requires very low IQ, as long as you are qualified. Of course, a high IQ definitely has an advantage. I know a futures trader at Tsinghua University who is really super savvy. I have been thinking about things for many years, and he quickly learned them.
But this kind of advantage is relatively small. Even if you have mediocre qualifications and can't figure out the core secret of making money from trading, it doesn't matter, because other people have figured it out a long time ago, and have already written it out and told everyone. Don't even think about it, the bottom-level secret is: just make a big profit with a small loss.
If you didn't figure it out before, I'll tell you now, and you'll know it too.
Trading has another huge benefit: it requires zero emotional intelligence.
In large companies, everyone who has been in the organization knows that emotional intelligence is very important, and it can even be said to be more important than IQ. In real life, you can also see many people with mediocre qualifications, but because they have high emotional intelligence, know how to behave, and how to behave in the world, they are still doing well.
The bad thing is that I'm a person with a very low EQ, and I discovered this problem when I used to work in a bank. I still don't know why, and the people around me don't like me very much, which is too bad for those who work hard in the workplace.
Low EQ is worse than low education, low IQ, and worse than low status.
But the advantage of the transaction is: his requirement for EQ is 0, there is no requirement. The only thing a trader has to face is himself, and he doesn't need to please anyone. I don't need to look at anyone's face, including customers.
To be honest, this is the reason why I like trading the most. I don't like dealing with people, and I don't want to please anyone. Just be yourself.
Finally, there is another point that trading is really a profession without professional crisis. In many industries, there may be a crisis after the age of 35, because your most valuable age has passed.
But trading is just the opposite. I feel that after the age of 35, you start to enter the golden period of your career. I looked at most of the transactions, and they all started to enter the gold career when they were around 40 years old. For example, Soros founded the Quantum Fund when he was 39 years old. Buffett's wealth earned after the age of 50 accounts for as much as 80% of his total wealth.
Because trading takes time to settle, it needs to accumulate experience, and it is an endless learning process.
This is really good. I can feel that I am improving every year. I believe that it is difficult to feel this way in other industries.
Well, I have talked about so many benefits of doing transactions, but what I want to talk about is not the above advantages at all, but the following:
But I think 99.99% of people are not suitable for trading, I will never let my son do this industry, why?
Didn't it mean that trading does not require high IQ, and even zero requirements for EQ?
Isn't this industry suitable for most people?
On the contrary, only a very small number of people are suitable.
Why?
There are many reasons, here is a cruel one:
Because the transaction needs "people", I put the word "person" in quotation marks to emphasize it.
It must be a person, not a beast or a beast...
No insults are intended here.
Do you know the difference between a man and a beast?
What the book says is that man can use and create tools, but beasts cannot.
In fact, in my opinion, it has not yet reached the root.
Why can people use and create jobs?
Because people have thoughts... People use their brains to think about problems, and then this thought guides people to use and create tools.
But do you think this thing is for everyone?
Most people in this world make all decisions and choose based on their "instinct" and "mood" or "intuition".
For example, when a person is hungry, he will go to find food, when he is sleepy, he will go to sleep, when someone scolds him, he will get angry, and when a man matures, he will go to the opposite sex to mate. These are all biological instincts.
This is no different from animals. For example, if I throw a stone at a dog, the dog will bark at me.
I throw a piece of meat to a dog and the dog wags its tail at me.
It's an instinctive reaction.
Do you think most people in this world make choices and make decisions rationally after thinking about them?
Forget it, they deal with problems in exactly the same way dogs deal with them, based on instinct, intuition, and mood.
Some time ago, I saw such a passage on the Internet, the author was obviously complaining:
For us ordinary people, we are cannon fodder in troubled times, and we are cattle and horses in prosperous times.
What he said seemed to make sense, but why did he think about it?
Isn't it possible to have heroes in troubled times? Why did you become cannon fodder?
Isn't it possible to live and work in peace and contentment in the prosperous age? Why do you just act like a cow or a horse?
Most people are nothing more than slaves to their emotions.
I think of a movie I watched before Chinese New Year last year, it seems to be "A Good Show", in which there is a classic line:
Take control of your emotions and be your own master...
This line really hits the nail on the head.
Well, today is pure nonsense.
