Today's article is purely my own random thinking...
Because I have been trading for so many years, although I have made a little money, I know that I have endured a lot of pain, especially in holding positions.
Then think about it, can trading be painless and suffering?
Or is this a must bear?
I have really thought about this question, let me first talk about the thinking process:
First we must find out what is the root of our suffering?
The reason is that we want to make a profit, and we hope that all the choices we make are correct: enter the market at the right time, increase the position at the right position, and close the position at the highest point to exit the market. Even if it is a stop loss, it is hoped that it will be an effective stop loss.
And obviously, we can't do it, and we suffer because we can't do it.
So can we change our way of thinking, even if we can’t do it, we can accept it psychologically, and then it won’t be painful.
I think this is a very good suggestion:
It means that we can accept our imperfections in the transaction and the losses caused by the transaction...
So can it be done?
It seems to be possible. According to the method of Buddhism, this kind of pain is "self-attachment". Only by letting go of "self-attachment" can we get relief.
Indeed, I found that my pain was really too persistent:
Even if the transaction is profitable, it will still be very painful: holding the list, afraid of profit taking, close the position, I am worried that the market will continue to rise after closing the position, if it is not flat, it will be even more uncomfortable once the profit is withdrawn.
Only when people let go of this attachment will they feel much more comfortable.
Especially when I start to figure it out, the pain does ease a lot.
For example, for the long positions in the US and Japan, I obviously closed the position too early. At that time, seeing the US and Japan continued to skyrocket, I felt very uncomfortable.
But I figured it out, I can accept the fact that I can’t close the position at the highest point psychologically, so when Meirui closed the position, I told myself that this may not be the highest point, I have to accept it, and then Meirui continued to skyrocket , but I don't feel so uncomfortable psychologically.
People's obsession in trading is indeed the root of all pain, and even the most important reason for losses. Only by constantly breaking obsessions can progress be possible.
Of course, this kind of obsession has many aspects. The first obsession I overcame was that I must be right. I have been very good at admitting mistakes. When I was wrong, I quickly stopped the loss.
Many transactions suffered huge losses and ended up jumping off the building because this obsession was not overcome.
As I write this, I am reminded of that very famous sentence in the Diamond Sutra:
There is nowhere to live in the heart, but the heart is born.
I would like to add that when the Sixth Patriarch Huineng heard this sentence told to him, he suddenly had an epiphany and was liberated.
This is the condition for the mind to have nowhere to live. To put it simply, it means that there is no obsession in the heart, and when it is not disturbed by the outside world, it can be used freely and see the truth.
But let me think about it again, we will never be able to be free-spirited, because there is a logical paradox here:
people who do business must have something to ask for, and they must have desires. You at least hope To make money, if you really have nothing to live in, is it necessary for you to do transactions?
So, there is only one conclusion here:
you will definitely suffer pain in the market, but those with a high level of cultivation may let go more and suffer less.
Sorrow, the sorrow of a trader.
