What are your thoughts on the Wheel Strategy?

The Wheel Strategy provides great short-term downside protection.

I've encountered some downsides with the Wheel Strategy, especially during bear markets. It can be tough to find lit stocks to wheel when prices are dropping like they're hot.

One advantage of the Wheel Strategy is that it allows you to potentially acquire stocks at a lower price if the puts are assigned. This can be beneficial for long-term investors looking to build their portfolio.

I've recently started exploring the Wheel Strategy, and it seems like a promising approach to generate consistent income. However, I'm still in the learning phase and haven't implemented it yet.

In my experience, the Wheel Strategy works well in range-bound or upward-moving markets. However, it can be challenging during bear markets when stock prices deviate significantly from the strike price, making it difficult to collect premiums.

After researching the Wheel Strategy, I found it to be quite complex and time-consuming. It may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who don't have the time or interest to actively manage their options trades.

I never knew this strategy existed. I’m already selling covered calls OTM on my dividend stocks & etfs. So this is a layer on what I’m already doing.

I use $7k to wheel. Ccl, c, bb, bp. Usually try to avoid plays near earnings and whatever I wheel I'm okay owning. Sometimes it's better to eat the loss & btc.

I googled it. It sounds complex and requires lots of work. Probably to much work to bother with unless you want it as a hobby

I exclusively trade short premium positions. I don't necessarily "wheel" as I'd rather roll out the short put rather than take assignment.

I add in short strangles, ratio spreads, credit and debit spreads and try to stay neutral to slightly positive delta. I typically under perform a strong bull market, but will crush a bear market.

If an instrument is range bound or moving higher it works. It doesn't work in bear markets as the price moves to far away from strike price to collect any premium, assuming you got pulled into a position.

traders must always remember to acquire the underlying asset when a short put expires in-the-money and sell (if that's the aim) when a short call expires in-the-money.
